Tabnine is an AI coding platform designed to help developers plan, write, understand, test, review, fix, and maintain software directly within their existing development environments. It combines real-time code completion, an IDE-based coding chat, task-oriented AI agents, code-review capabilities, and terminal-based assistance. Its recommendations use the active project and available organizational context to produce code that better reflects a company’s architecture, development patterns, internal APIs, and coding standards.

The platform can generate anything from short snippets and complete lines to entire functions. Developers can also describe a requirement using natural language and ask Tabnine to create code, explain unfamiliar logic, fix errors, refactor an implementation, generate tests, or produce documentation. Tabnine Agent extends these capabilities by breaking complex assignments into steps and making coordinated edits across a project while maintaining a feedback and approval loop with the developer.

Tabnine also offers specialized agents for code review, testing, documentation, code fixes, project onboarding, and implementing requirements captured in Jira issues. Its CLI brings autonomous or guided coding workflows to the terminal, allowing it to work beyond the IDE in remote development environments and other command-line workflows.

A major focus of Tabnine is enterprise privacy and control. Organizations can deploy it as secure SaaS, in a virtual private cloud, on-premises, or in a fully air-gapped environment. Tabnine states that customer code is not stored, shared, or used to train its proprietary models. Enterprise teams also receive centralized governance, configurable model access, contextual personalization, policy enforcement, and deployment control.

The core coding experience supports Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio, and Eclipse, although the availability of individual features such as Tabnine Agent can vary by IDE.
