Smartling
Smartling Translate is an enterprise AI translation portal for instantly translating text and business files while applying approved terminology, translation memory, and brand style.
Smartling Translate is a self-service translation portal built for companies that need fast, secure, and consistent translations without creating a complete localization project for every request. Employees can paste text directly into the interface or upload a supported file, select one or more target languages, and receive an AI-generated translation within seconds. The portal is part of Smartling’s wider enterprise localization platform and must be activated for an organization’s Smartling account.
The service uses Smartling’s AI translation technology to select the configured machine-translation engine or large language model for a request. It can incorporate an organization’s translation memories, glossaries, terminology, stylistic preferences, and optional GPT-enabled enhancements. This helps translations remain closer to the company’s established brand voice instead of producing generic output with inconsistent product names or expressions.
Smartling Translate supports text translation and files as large as 200 MB. Officially listed formats include DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV, HTML, XML, Markdown, DITA, IDML, SVG, SRT, VTT, XLIFF, RESX, RTF, and several other business, localization, design, and subtitle formats. Source-language detection is available for uploaded documents, reducing the amount of manual setup required.
The portal is primarily aimed at enterprise departments that occasionally need translations but do not require access to complex localization workflows. Marketing, support, operations, legal, product, and internal communications teams can use the same approved linguistic assets as the company’s localization specialists. Public APIs are also available for integrating instant translation into business systems and automated workflows.
Smartling emphasizes private processing, document confidentiality, and enterprise data protection. However, Smartling Translate is not presented as a standalone consumer translator: organizations generally need an active Smartling account, appropriate user permissions, and activation through their Smartling representative
