Melies is an AI-powered filmmaking studio designed for independent filmmakers, directors, screenwriters, content creators, and creative teams that want to produce complete films using generative AI. Rather than requiring separate applications for writing, image generation, video creation, audio, and editing, Melies brings the filmmaking workflow into one connected environment—from the initial concept through the final cut. Its platform includes dozens of specialized tools covering writing, casting, storyboarding, visual generation, motion, sound, and post-production.

The creative process can begin with its Movie Idea Generator and AI screenwriting workspace. Users can develop concepts, characters, conflicts, scenes, dialogue, and complete screenplays while maintaining screenplay-specific formatting. Existing scripts can also be imported in Final Draft FDX, Fountain, or TXT formats. Melies connects the screenplay to visual production, allowing character and location references to remain associated with relevant scenes and automatically carry into storyboard generation. For visual production, Melies provides AI image and video generation using a broad selection of leading generative models. Its current model ecosystem includes technologies from providers such as Google, Kling, Runway, Luma, ByteDance, OpenAI, Black Forest Labs, Alibaba, ElevenLabs, and others. Creators can generate cinematic images, transform still images or text descriptions into video, control camera movement and visual style, and maintain character identity using reference images.

Character consistency is a particularly important part of the filmmaking workflow. Melies offers a library of more than 150 ready-to-use AI actors and also allows creators to generate custom actors from reference photos. These character references can then be reused across images, videos, posters, different camera angles, expressions, and scenes, helping filmmakers maintain a coherent cast throughout a project. The platform also provides hundreds of visual styles and controls for lighting, mood, camera angles, weather, color grading, and other cinematic attributes.

Melies extends beyond visual generation into audio and post-production.
