DuckDuckGo AI
Duck.ai is DuckDuckGo’s privacy-focused AI chat platform that lets users access multiple leading AI models without exposing their identity to the model providers. It supports text chat, web search, image generation, voice chat, PDF and image uploads, while offering free access without requiring an account.
Duck.ai is a private AI assistant developed by DuckDuckGo that provides access to multiple third-party AI models through one interface. Instead of sending identifying information directly to model providers, DuckDuckGo anonymizes requests and removes personal metadata such as the user’s IP address before forwarding prompts. DuckDuckGo states that conversations are not used to train AI models and that model providers generally operate under Zero Data Retention agreements. Some models hosted by Tinfoil additionally use Trusted Execution Environments, providing what DuckDuckGo calls “zero provider visibility.”
The free version currently includes Claude 4.5 Haiku, Mistral Small 4, GPT-6 Luna, GPT-5.4 mini, gpt-oss-120b and Gemma 4 31B. DuckDuckGo Plus subscribers additionally receive GPT-5.6 Terra and Claude Sonnet 4.6, while Pro adds Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.6 Sol, higher reasoning effort and twice the usage limits of Plus. Users can switch between models and can also request a second opinion from another model.
Duck.ai supports AI image generation and editing, voice chat and dictation, web search, recent-chat search and file uploads. Images and PDFs are supported with compatible models; PDF limits are currently 15 pages for Free, 35 pages for Plus and 50 pages for Pro. Spreadsheets are not currently supported. Chat history is stored locally by default, while optional Sync & Backup stores it end-to-end encrypted so DuckDuckGo cannot read it.
Duck.ai is free with daily usage limits and requires no account. Premium AI access is bundled with the DuckDuckGo subscription: Plus costs $9.99/month or $99.99/year, while Pro costs $19.99/month or $199.99/year in the U.S. Pricing varies by country. The subscription is currently offered in the U.S., U.K., E.U. and Canada.
