Buffer AI Assistant is an AI-powered writing tool integrated into Buffer’s social media management platform. It is designed to help creators, small businesses, marketers, and social media teams develop publishable content more efficiently. The assistant is available within Buffer’s Create workspace for brainstorming and organizing ideas, as well as inside the post composer where users prepare content for publication.

Users can start with a short prompt and ask the assistant to generate a complete social media post, caption, or content idea. Existing text can be rewritten, shortened, expanded, or adjusted to sound more casual or formal. The assistant can also summarize longer material into concise social posts and transform one piece of content into several versions for reuse across different channels.

Platform-specific optimization is one of its central capabilities. Content can be adapted for networks such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, X, Bluesky, and other channels supported by Buffer. Users can refine the tone, length, style, audience, and structure instead of manually rewriting the same message for every platform.

The assistant works alongside Buffer’s broader planning and publishing tools. Generated content can be stored as an idea, developed into a draft, placed in a publishing queue, scheduled through the content calendar, and shared across connected social accounts. Buffer currently supports channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Google Business Profile.

Buffer AI Assistant is included in the Free, Essentials, and Team plans with unlimited AI credits. The Free plan currently supports up to three connected channels and ten scheduled posts per channel. Buffer states that text submitted to the assistant is shared with OpenAI to generate responses, but other account information and media files are not shared as part of that process.
